Halliburton Lays Off 650 Workers
Halliburton confirmed that is laying off 650 employees at locations in North Dakota, Colorado, New Mexico, and Wyoming.
Company officials attributed the layoffs to “local market conditions”, and most of the affected employees were given the option to transfer to other Halliburton locations.
“Making this decision was not easy or taken lightly, but unfortunately it was necessary as we work to align our operations to reduced customer activity,” the company said.
The workforce reduction was attributed to less drilling and a pullback in fracing operations.
In North Dakota, Halliburton faces competition from Schlumberger, CalFrac, and Liberty Services.
